VWBus T4&5+ Issue 85
May Madness
May is upon us and this month’s issue is, appropriately enough, jammed with
VW madness. Bus one is Uberbus’s mad take on a Swamper, not their first but
definitely their best so far. Next is New Wave’s latest Crafter, built tough to take three
Motor-X bikes and built luxuriously to take the riders and crew in comfort, the only
thing mad about this is the graphics, and they are mad. Bus three is Dan Parker’s T5,
this bus won the recent competition we held in conjunction with Morland for interior
design and layout. The mad bit is that it has no rear sliding doors on either side. It
may be mad but boy is it smooooooth! Our fourth feature bus is Richard Sparks’ T4,
we even titled this feature “Between Love And Madness” because the amount of time
and care that Richard has lavished on this bus would be seen as mad to anyone
outside of our corner of the VW world. Bus five is Cliff Earle’s white T5 with a lovely
camping interior. On Cliff’s bus the madness is all on the outside, where airbrush
artist, Paul Yeoman, has covered the outside with images of Marvel and DC comic
heroes. Some graphic novel aficionados would tell you that mixing the two together is
madness, but that’s not for us to say. Our final feature, Martin Parsons’ white T4 is
the polar opposite, all white subtle sophistication on the outside, but open the slider
and a mad (and very cool) purple interior is revealed. Show wise, Steve went to
Ultimate Dubs which was crammed full of some of the maddest modified cars and
vans around. Whilst Andrew reports on a camp over from last year with some Quirky
Campers, where madness is compulsory. Andrew also shows us “How To” install air
ride suspension, both mad and cool in equal measures. The Chef is making
Courgette Crisps, which sounds mad to us. Alan is talking of buying a trailer for the
Big Bus (mad!) and David is a little mad about VW and their headlong rush towards
electric motivation. Not mad this month is Simon’s visit to C&H Custom Campers,
although we’re sure they can do mad stuff if you ask them. Also not mad, is our
competition in conjunction with Just Kampers to win a pair of tickets to their open day
and camping weekender. Is there more madness in May’s issue I hear you ask? Of
course there is, but to read all the madness you’ll need to grab a copy of your own.
