The Air Edition

This month we have an unexpected link that runs through all out featured buses, and even into some of the reports and features. The link, air, isn’t tenuous in any way…

As usual we have six fabulous features for you this month. Russell Walker’s ‘Vision In Red’ is a stunning T6, it’s been through several incarnations in its short life, now riding on air it is one cool ride. Alpine’s grey T5 is a bus built for a purpose to showcase their audio products. It has a few tricks up its sleeve, including a few unexpected ones, this is the second bus on air ride in this issue. Toby Green’s Caddy swathed appropriately enough in Viper Green is another van to ride on air, it is also much developed since it’s been in Toby’s hands. David Gray’s ‘Sweet Sixteen’ is a blue T4 that has also been through a few changes in its time with the owner, sixteen years; David’s bus has air in its tyres. Martin Woodhouse’s Yellow T4 is yet another bus to have gone through the evolutionary process, from AA van, through to a gardener’s work van for Adam’s (who?) business, then on to quirky camper for his family, who, coincidentally all breathe air! Neil and Rebecca Eyles’ white T5 is another to have been a gardener’s work van, this time for Rebecca, before being converted into a camper. The white interior is very bright and airy

Away from the featured six, Simon Cooke reports on a visit to the open-air festival, Camper Calling held at Ragley Hall last August. The lure of his favourite band was strong, but he stuck around for the whole weekend and had a blast. Adam Howard went to VW Whitenoise, held earlier in August.  Rain was in the air, but the sun shone too, Adam reports on the live music, the attraction, the show and shine and all points in between. Steve ‘autoholic’ Edwards visited Xtreme Van in Market Harborough to have a nose round their airy new HQ. Harriet Carpenter and Dan Ingram continue their Australian adventure as they head to the north-west to see some of the wildlife on offer. Oli Grogan of Stitches + Steel fame heads south-west, rather than north-west, for a month-long surf session taking in the sea air in the Basque region of France. This issue also sees the announcement of 2018’s Bus Of The Year Competition. No need to hold your breath, turn to the centre pages if you can’t wait to find out.
